Building a new choice guidance tool for Petzl.fr headlamps
In 2022, we were asked to create a tool to help Petzl’s clients chose their headlamps.
This request came after a succesfull similar mission for their harnesses.

Process

UX Research
I conducted a focus group with people from Petzl main markets (France, USA, Canada, Finland, UK, Germany) to understand how they would chose and use a headlamp. What was important in a headlamp and what wasn’t.
The goal being to be able to create the questions which would be relevant for the users.
Deliverable: Focus group transcript & conclusions

UX Design
I created a question tree, with the help of Petzl’s knowledgable team to help prioritize one model over another according to the user’s need.
Then I proceeded to wireframe the tool. The challenge being to have something eady to use on desktop and mobile, with short and relevant questions, and to give a comprehensive answer.
I created a first version of the copy which was then translated by Petzl’s team of translators.
Deliveable: Wireframe, treemap, copywriting

Hand off
Our design and development teams took it from there. See it live here:
